When most people plan their weddings, they dream of inviting all of their friends and family to enjoy their special day. In fact, when it comes to most ceremonies – the more, the merrier. However, for celebrities, sometimes a more subtle ceremony is appealing.  With millions of people feeling entitled to know about the private lives of their favorite stars, some celebrities opt for secret weddings in order to make their special day even more special. While many fans may find this disappointing, it’s actually kind of refreshing to know that everything celebrities do isn’t for attention. Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams

When Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams tied the knot back in 2009, they had only been dating for a few months. The couple wed in a small and intimate ceremony in Savannah, GA and fans were surprised when they heard about the couple’s secret wedding.  Unfortunately; however, they decided to part ways earlier this year after just over five years of marriage.

Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom

Many people were stunned in 2010 when Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom snuck away to be married after just a month of being engaged. Shortly after their wedding, Kerr announced that she was four months pregnant. Unfortunately, moving so quickly proved to be detrimental to the couple who has been separated since 2013.

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepherd

According to Bell, she and Shephard had the “lowest key” wedding on the planet. The two were married at a courthouse in Beverly Hills and spent an estimated $140.  However, their relationship is proof that you the amount of money you put into your wedding has nothing to do with the value of your marriage. Shepard and Bell are still happily married with two adorable children.

In 2009, Maggie Gyllenhaal and her husband, Peter Sargaard, were wed in a small ceremony in Italy. The ceremony was small and intimate and included only the couple’s close friends and family. When Naya Rivera married Ryan Dorsey were married last summer, it was pretty surprising – mainly because most people didn’t even realize her and Big Sean had broken up. However, Rivera and Dorsey’s secret Cabo wedding seems to have been a good decision.  Although it will take time to see if their relationship will be able to go the lang haul, so far they seem pretty happy together.

With his cool and super low-key look, it’s no surprise that Daniel Craig preferred to have a secret wedding ceremony. Craig and Weisz were wed in 2011, and even after their wedding they remained tight-lipped about the details of their wedding. During an interview, Craig stated that he and his bride made the choice to have a private wedding because they didn’t want to have their special day ruined.  With that way some of these paparazzi and obsessed are, they probably made the best decision.

Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux have officially become the latest celebrity couple to get married in a secret ceremony. Although they had made it clear that they intended to marry, when asked why their wedding kept getting pushed back, Aniston explained that they wanted to wait for the timing to be perfect. Well, it looks like they finally got their wish. The couple held their wedding at their Bel Air mansion and invited their closest friends and family including Lisa Kudrow, Ellen DeGeneres, and Howard Stern.

Although most people knew that Calista Flockhard and Harrison Ford were headed toward marriage, their actual wedding came as quite a surprise. After years of dating, Flockhart and Ford made it official during a secret ceremony in at the Governor’s mansion in Santa Fe, NM. Although there is a more than 20 year age difference between the two, they’ve managed to be one of Hollywood’s most stable couples.

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are currently one of Hollywood’s hottest couples. In 2012, the young couple had a secret wedding in South Carolina. However, in their case, secret definitely didn’t mean simple.  Although they managed to keep the ceremony under wraps, the couple enjoyed a beautiful wedding – with about 60 guests – and reception with a beautiful cake and live music from Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine.
