Fernandes started off her career as a model by participating in beauty pageants. She started modeling in 2010 and appeared in Pantaloons Femina Miss Maharashtra in 2011. Erica got her first acting opportunity in Virattu/Dega that features Sujiv. Sasi, the film director, saw the photos of Fernandes and offered her the role of a software engineer in the movie. However, her first project that hit the screens was Ainthu Ainthu Ainthu.

Erica made her debut in the Kannada films with “Ninnindale” where she was featured opposite Puneeth Rajkumar. Later, she made her debut in the Bollywood film fraternity with the movie “Babloo Happy Hai”. Virattu was released in 2014. Fernandes starred in Galipattam, her first Telugu film. The movie did a fair job at the box office. Erica’s performance was appreciated by the critics.
