On June 29, 1944, William Gary Busey, an American actor, was born. For his portrayal of Buddy Holly in The Buddy Holly Story, Gary Busey was nominated for an Academy Award and won the National Society of Film Critics Award for Best Actor (1978).
Delmer Lloyd Busey, a manager of building design, and Sadie Virginia (née Arnett), a housewife, are Gary Busey’s parents. They both reside in Goose Creek, Texas, where Busey was born. Busey moved to Tulsa while he was in the fourth grade, leaving Goose Creek. After sustaining a knee injury, Gary Busey transferred schools and enrolled at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma to study theater.
