Interest in music since childhood
Micah Javon Cooper popular by his stage name Rxchie is an American singer, rapper, and songwriter. Furthermore, he is also an actor.
Born on May 7, 1996, that makes him 22 years old at present. Initially, he was born in Samoa and was raised in Compton, California. Growing up he moved to Mississippi.
When he was eight years old, he watched the movie The Jacksons: An American Dream. Watching the movie, he fell in love with music. Since his childhood and early days, his interest in music began to grow.
Born to Louise Cooper (mother), his mother noticed Rxchie’s interest in music. Most of his time during his school days, he was busy writing and composing his own music. At the young age of fourteen, he began singing and got very interested in rapping.
Playing football-Beside music
In order to pursue his career in the music industry as a rapper, he had to cope with many things. And those things were found to be very hard.
Besides music, he was fond of playing football during his time as a freshman in high school. Furthermore, he also played for the Los Angeles Romans.
His football skills also earned him a scholarship to play for the Jackson State Tigers at Jackson state university.
But then winning a scholarship did not make him grow his interest in football. He turned down the scholarship thing in order to focus more on music and acting.
Trying a name for himself
In order to earn his living, he worked at the library right after finishing his high school. Working at the library, he collected money that was enough to produce his first song.
To make people listen to his song, he sent the song to dozens of radio stations. Furthermore, he also participated in his church choir and attended local talent shows. He did it all to make a name for himself.
He came up with his debut single, “TINGS” which peaked at number 2 on the number one music chart for 7 weeks. Disney added his song to radio Disney’s incubator program. “TINGS” was remixed which helped add more fame to him and his single.
Stepping into Acting
His single was released on his SoundCloud page and also followed on iTunes. Moving on he also sang at several venues across the country. He came up with singles like “Changes”, “Let Go”, “We Both Know”, “I won’t”, “Caught Up”, “Down for You” etc.
He is greatly influenced by the rapper Drake. Alongside his music career, Rxchie has also stepped into pursuing an acting career. In 2013, he made his on-screen feature film debut in Antisocial. He was also seen in 2018’s Venom.
