Heartstopper season 2 has finally been released on Netflix, and it’s already ranked on the streamer’s top 10 TV shows list. It’s the show everyone’s watching and talking about, and we’re already seeing tons of questions about the new season. One question in particular that we keep coming across concerns one of the main characters. Viewers are curious about Isaac’s sexuality. No worries. We discuss this below.

Isaac Henderson (Tobie Donovan) is a year 10 student at Truham Grammar School. He’s part of Charlie’s close-knit friend group, which also consists of Tao and Elle. He’s quiet, introverted, and doesn’t say much unless spoken to. Throughout the first season, he was mostly seen reading a book.

However, this changes in Heartstopper season 2. While Isaac still reads various books in the second season, we also learn more about him. He has a love interest and begins to explore his sexuality. By the end of the season, it seems that Isaac finally knows what his sexual orientation is. Here’s what we know about Isaac’s sexuality based on what occurred in Heartstopper season 2.

It appears so. Isaac befriends fellow Truham Grammar student James, and they immediately have a connection. But while it looks like the connection is going in the direction of something more, Isaac eventually realizes that he doesn’t have romantic feelings toward James. He realizes this after he kisses him for the first time. But it’s not that there’s a problem with James. Isaac comes to realize that he has little to no romantic interest in anyone. But initially, he doesn’t know why he feels that way.

It’s not until he talks to an art student at the Lambert School of Art that he realizes what’s happening with him. While staring at an art piece, the student who created the art walks up to Isaac and talks to him. He explains what the art piece is about. He tells Isaac that it’s about his experience being aromantic and asexual. As the art student continues talking about his art, a smile appears on Isaac’s face. It’s as if he has an eureka moment. He finally realizes why he’s feeling the way he does. It’s pretty much confirmed that Isaac’s asexual aka ace when he picks up a book on asexuality and checks it out from the library in the season 2 finale.

Now that we know what’s going on with Isaac, hopefully, the third season will touch on this more. But we’ll just have to wait and see.

The art student basically mentions that being aromantic is feeling no romantic attraction to anyone.

"Commonly describes someone who experiences little to no romantic attraction, abbreviated to aro. It also describes someone whose experience of romance is disconnected from normative societal expectations, due to feeling repulsed by romance, or being uninterested in romantic relationships."

The art student also mentions that being asexual is when you don’t feel a sexual attraction to anyone.

"Someone who is asexual experiences little to no sexual attraction. Asexual people, who might use the term “ace” or “aces” for short, typically don’t experience sexual attraction or want to pursue sexual relationships with other people."
