Sweet Magnolias season 2 debuted on Feb. 4 and the season has quickly gotten viewers talking!

As anticipated, season 2 is filled with the types of feel-good energy we need now more than ever with another uplifting season that is sure to delight. While the season is filled with many happy, romantic and heartwarming moments, it’s not without a few heartbreaking developments as well.

While the writers keep audiences on their toes with plenty of surprising moments across the new season, there is no denying that one of, if not the most shocking moments of the season comes in the eighth episode.

What seems like an innocent moment which finds the Magnolias enjoying drinks with Maddie’s mother and Miss Frances, quickly takes a tragic turn when Miss Frances collapses and is confirmed to have died in the following episode.

Following her death, the Magnolias take it upon themselves to help plan her celebration of life and one of the many personalized aspects of the event is the use of the Sweet Frances Rose. It’s a beautiful flower and touching tribute, but has left many fans questioning whether the flower is real or was created specifically for the purposes of the show.

Although it’s not uncommon for shows such as Sweet Magnolias to create fictional brands, foods, etc, the Sweet Frances Rose is indeed a real flower and was not made up just for the show.

The flower is said to have gotten its name in a naming contest in which The Antique Rose Emporium customer Rebecca Franks chose to honor her mother by naming the flower after her. The Sweet Frances rose is described as a lovely apricot rose that typically blooms from spring to fall.
