You know Joan Rivers for her big opinions and her lack of filter, but this weekend she was upset enough to walk out on an interview on live television. The Fashion Police host was in the middle of an interview with CNN’s Fredericka Whitfield on Saturday when Whitfield upset Rivers so much she stood up, removed her mic and walked out in the middle of the interview. The interview was a promotion for Rivers’ new book, “Diary of a Mad Diva,” that got ugly when Whitfield called Rivers’ show mean.

“It’s not mean. I tell the truth. I’m sure I say the same things your viewers say to their friends sitting next to them on the couch,” Rivers said in rebuttable to Whitfield’s comment that Fashion Police is mean. Rivers became increasingly upset as Whitfield began asking the host and author about making comments and jokes about Princess Diana and Casey Anthony, topics she feels might come off as off-limits.

“Life is very tough, and if you can make a joke to make something easier, and funny, do it,” was what Rivers had to say in response jokes in her book about topics that are a bit more serious and difficult. The interview came to an abrupt end when Whitfield continued the interview by making a comment about the fur coat Rivers wears on the cover of “Diary of a Mad Diva,” prompting Rivers to stand up and walk out after asking Whitfield if she’s currently wearing leather shoes while asking Rivers about her fur coat.

Whitfield later claimed she did not think Rivers was serious when she was defending herself on the air and had no idea she would really walk out in the middle of their interview. Whitfield allegedly thought the whole ordeal was some sort of stunt before realizing that Rivers was seriously angry over the interview.
