Seals and Crofts were an American soft rock duo that comprised James Eugene “Jim” Seals as Jim Seals and Darrell George Crofts as Dash Crofts.

The singing duo was best known for their 1970s hits “Summer Breeze” (1972), “Diamond Girl” (1973), and “Get Closer” (1976). Their songs all peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Jim was born on October 17, 1941, and lived for 80 years until his death on June 6, 2022.

His bandmate Dash Crofts was born on August 14, 1940, and is presently alive.

Nonetheless, both members have also been known for being public advocates of the Baháʼí Faith.

Despite disbanding in 1980, the duo reunited briefly in 1991–1992, and again in 2004, following their release of the final album, Traces.

Seals were on guitar, saxophone, and violin while Crofts played the guitar and mandolin. They eventually went on to sign a contract with the record division of Talent Associates (TA) in 1969.

Having released two LPs, it was only the second that reached the Billboard 200 chart, peaking at No. 122 in October 1970.
