Although his acting career began less than 10 years ago, Jamie Dornan is already well on his way to carving out an unforgettable legacy.  The 32 year-old Ireland native,was lucky enough to gain mainstream recognition in his debut role as  Axel von Fersen in the 2006 historical drama, Marie Antoinette. Since hen, Dornan has gone on to appear in several TV shows including roles in both Once Upon a Time and The Fall. Most recently, Dornan has been cast as the seductive Christian Grey in the highly anticipated 2015 film, 5o Shades of Grey, which is scheduled to be released in February.  However, with such a relatively short career, many details about Dornan are almost as mysterious as Mr. Grey.  Here are three things you didn’t know about Jamie Dornan.

3. Jamie Dornan was once in a band.

Before becoming a famous actor, Jamie Dornan was part of a folk band named Sons of Jim.  The band opened for pop star KT Tunstall, and released several songs on iTunes.  Unfortunately, the group disbanded in 2008, and Dornan has since been heavily focused on his acting career.

2. Jamie Dornan is an underwear model.

Aside from being a talented actor and musician, Jamie Dornan also models underwear.  Throughout his modeling career, Dornan been in ad campaigns for some of the well-known brands including Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein.  Dornan has also worked with some of the modeling industry’s most popular stars including Kate Moss and Eva Mendes.

1. Jamie Dornan originally wanted to be a rugby player.

A devout rugby fan, Dornan once had dreams of performing on a field instead of on a camera.  Dornan once played rugby for the Belfast Harlequins; however, his athletic career never quite took off like he’d hoped.   While it is sad that Dornan was never able to achieve his dream, if he had, he may never have had a successful acting career.
